The Grange Recommended Reading Lists
Reading at The Grange is a key priority and is a prominent feature of your child’s school day. From the Scholastic Book Fair, Ms Boswell’s weekly reading reminder in assembly to daily ERIC sessions in class, reading is the lifeblood of our school. Being an independent and confident reader furthers other skills such as comprehension, writing and spelling, which rely on a strong reading foundation.
You will find below reading lists appropriate to each year group and your child’s age.
These books have been taken from a well-regarded children’s literature website and are updated frequently to include new releases. The lists hold books which are based on age related expectations for that year group.
If you do not wish to purchase the books, you may want to sign up to Banbury library where they have a wide collection of these texts. We also have many of the titles on the lists on the school book shelves for your child to take home and read with you.
It may be the case that you find the list is too challenging for your child. We would still recommend sharing these books together, but it could be a collaboration, rather than your child reading it independently. Discuss what has happened, who the characters are and what is their opinion of them. Questions such as this stimulate comprehension understanding and develop key reading skills.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation, we hope you and your child enjoy the titles provided.
