What is the Travel Plan?

​

The School Travel Plan is a key document that outlines important information about our school, its surrounding environment, and the travel habits of pupils, parents, and staff. It provides a snapshot of current travel patterns, identifies challenges, and sets out specific goals and actions developed by the Travel Plan team to promote safe, healthy, and sustainable travel to and from school.

 

Our plan shows current travel behaviour is encouraging—most pupils walk, cycle, or scoot to school. However, there is room for improvement. Insights from the recent school travel survey have helped us identify several key objectives to build on this success and further enhance travel safety and sustainability:

• To encourage and enable more children and parents to walk to and from school.

• To encourage and enable more pupils and staff to use active modes (Walking, cycling, scooting) for journeys to and from school.

• Where appropriate, encourage car sharing between parents of the school.

• Provide Road Safety education to pupils to build awareness, confidence and independence to ensure safer journeys to and from school.

• Raise awareness of the health benefits of leaving the car at home and the alternatives amongst children and parents.

• Monitor and assess travel behaviours annually, using surveys and feedback to inform improvements.

• Engage parents, carers and the wider community in supporting safe and sustainable travel initiatives.

• Ensure secure and adequate facilities for storing bicycles and scooters on school grounds.
