The Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the government to schools in England to help improve the attainment of disadvantaged pupils. It is allocated for:

Children eligible for free school meals (FSM) or who have been eligible in the past six years (known as Ever 6).

Children who are looked after by the local authority (in care).

Children who have been adopted from care or left care under a special guardianship or residence order.

Children of service families (Service Premium).
The aim is to close the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers by funding interventions such as:

Academic support (e.g., tutoring, small group work)

Social and emotional support
-
Enrichment activities to broaden experiences
