The Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the government to schools in England to help improve the attainment of disadvantaged pupils. It is allocated for:

• Children eligible for free school meals (FSM) or who have been eligible in the past six years (known as Ever 6).

• Children who are looked after by the local authority (in care).

• Children who have been adopted from care or left care under a special guardianship or residence order.

• Children of service families (Service Premium).

The aim is to close the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers by funding interventions such as:

• Academic support (e.g., tutoring, small group work)

• Social and emotional support

• Enrichment activities to broaden experiences
